West Maui Ziplining

Kapalua Zipline Company

We spent last week flying over Kapalua’s slopes with Kapalua Ziplines, and it was the right mix of views, laughs, and just enough butterflies to feel alive. Get your Kapalua Zipline tickets Today!

4 Lines or 6?

6-Line Course

We asked those that have done both courses, and we went with the 6 line course, not the 4. It runs about three and a half hours, includes ATV rides between lines, and you get to go over that big suspension bridge everyone talks about. Kapalua is the only all dual line course on Maui, so you ride side by side the entire time, which makes it easy to hoot, race, and compare goofy mid air faces.

Lahaina ziplines

Riding two at a time kept the energy up, and we didn’t have to wait a long time between rides. We started out trying to beat each other, then switched to syncing our launches so we could watch eachother scream! The guides make the start feel simple, clip, check, gentle cue, and off you go.

The VIEWS!

From the first platform meeting area, after the van ride, you see just so much ocean and behind us where the folds of the West Maui Mountains. It was as panoramic as it gets! Plenty of great photo opportunities.

Lahaina Zipline Views

We really enjoyed meeting our guides, and their presentation on how to sit in the harness was pretty straight forward. Every zipline was different, some quick and punchy, some long with time to breathe and look around. All told, we rode roughly two miles of cable with consistent ocean views.

The Bridge

Walking the suspension bridge is a little thrill on its own. It sways just enough to remind you where you are. You get some beautiful views, and you’re surrounded by green. It is billed as the largest suspension bridge in Hawaii, and the outlooks from the middle are worth a minute or two to take in.

The Zipline Team

Kian, Dylon, and Uncle George really made it special for us. High energy, clear instructions, quick with jokes, and on it with safety checks. They kept the group moving without rushing the moments that make a day like this fun, photos, cheering.

We were pretty lucky to be zipping with visitors that were really fun too. 2 families that knew how to enjoy themselves. Kian shared his life, back and forth from Maui to Colorado. From sun to snow and back is a pretty great life. No wonder he’s so happy and nice. Dylon was funny and kept us safe. Uncle George is classic! Legend! He’s got unending Dad jokes. (When the kids aren’t around, ask him for some dirty ones.)

What You Should Know

  • Expect about a quarter mile of total walking with some stairs.
  • Wear closed toed shoes, no exceptions.
  • Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a water bottle for the car after. Hats don’t really work under the helmets.
  • Hydration stations pop up regularly along the course, so you should take advantage.
  • ATV shuttles connect the platforms, saving your legs for the lines (and they’re super fun.)
  • Leave most of your stuff at their office. If you can, wear clothes with zipper pockets, so you can grab photos with your phone.
  • If you want to zipline while taking video/photos, make sure you’ve got some kind of tether. If you drop your phone, you’ll never see it again!
