Hawaii Food Festival

3. Hawaii Food & Wine Festival

This annual event takes place across the Hawaiian Islands (Big Island, Oahu, and Maui) for culinary events stretched across a string of incredible days. Events range from spectacular adult only soirées to hands-on events with the keiki. Award winning master chefs come from all over the country to cook for Maui locals and those smart enought to book their vacations during the event window.

Here we share our most recent staycation in Kaʻanapali for 2 nights and 3 days of fun during the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival.

Kimo's Maui

4. Kimo’s Maui – Returning to Front Street

Kimo’s is a local favorite and our pick for Best Lunch Spot on Maui! With ocean views and friendly service, stop here for a delicious meal with a view. The menu includes pupus, salads, seafood specialities, burgers, sandwiches and dessert. We recommend the Koloa Pork Ribs, Fresh Fish Tacos, Paniolo Burger and Chef’s Special Hula Pie. Kimo’s is also a great place to sit back, relax, and enjoy a sunset cocktail and live entertainment later in the day.

Kimo’s was lost in the 2023 fire. In July 2026 its owners announced plans to reopen in a new location on Front Street; an opening date hasn’t been set yet. For more information, please visit kimosmaui.com.

Fleetwood's Maui

5. Fleetwoods on Front Street – Closed since the 2023 fire

Owned by Mick Fleetwood of the popular band Fleetwood Mac, this Front Street staple offers some of the best views possible from its stunning rooftop deck. Not only did they win the 2014 Aipono Gold Award for Best Cocktails on Maui, but they won our vote as well! Grab an ocean-view seat on the roof for happy hour and enjoy live entertainment while sipping a speciality cocktail. We recommend the Fleetwood’s Pimm’s Cup with muddled strawberries, mint and cucumber, Pimm’s No. 1, Grand Marnier, Lemon, Orange Juice and Ginger Beer, or the Starshine with Ocean Vodka, Local Starfruit, Housemade Vanilla & Mint Simple Syrup, Fresno Chile and Li Hing Mui salted rim.

From the same owners of Mala Ocean Tavern, Maui Tacos and Penne Pasta Cafe comes Honu Seafood and Pizza, which offers delicious food items in a picturesque, charming oceanfront setting with 180 degree views of the Pacific Ocean and neighbor islands of Molokai and Lanai. We recommend the Kale Salad, Dungeness Crab Mac and Cheese, Bikini Blonde Battered Ono Fish and Chips and Ahi Sausage Brick Oven Pizza. Top it off with a Guava Kaffir Rita, Honu Refresh or Rosemary Small Cocktaill with Whiskey, Fresh Lime, Grapefruit Juice and Fresh Rosemary.

8. Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice – Closed

While Ululani’s technically isn’t an option for full service dining, shave ice is pretty much its own food group in Hawaii. Our pick for Best Shave Ice (not only in Lahaina, but all of Maui), Ululani’s is out to prove that not all shave ice is created equal. Using premium purees, natural fruit juices, extracts, concentrates and local ingredients, the flavors here are out of this world. We recommend the No Ka Oi with Coconut, Mango and Lilikoi, the Citrus Squeeze with Pink Lemonade, Lemon and Lime and the Hawaiian Rainbow with Strawberry, Pineapple and Vanilla. Add a Snow Cap, scoop of Roselani’s Ice Cream or Homemade Azuki Beans (when available) for a local flare.

Unfortunately, the Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice in Lahaina was lost in the Maui wildfires and it is unclear if this location will reopen. In the meantime, visit Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice in Kahului, Kihei, and Maui Lani. For more information, please visit ululanisshaveice.com.
